Getting Started

Start with a conversation.
Build a shared direction.

Tell us about your business, your customers, and what you need your website to do. If you already have a website, share what is working and where you are running into problems.

We use that conversation to recommend an appropriate scope. Before work begins, your proposal outlines the deliverables, responsibilities, schedule, and payment milestones.

Helpful things to bring

01

Your goals and the customers you want to reach.

02

Your current website and the challenges you notice.

03

Required features, integrations, or content.

04

Your preferred timing and budget range.

05

The people who will provide feedback and approval.

The Project Phases

Each phase gives the next one a stronger foundation.

This is the typical path for a website project. The depth of research, design, development, and testing depends on your agreed scope.

01

Discovery & Direction

Understand the business, audiences, existing website, and priorities. Review available research and analytics where relevant.

The outcome

A shared understanding of the problem, project goals, and how success will be evaluated.

02

Structure & Content

Plan the navigation, page hierarchy, content requirements, and paths visitors will follow to find information or take action.

The outcome

An agreed website structure and a clear plan for the content each page needs.

03

UX & Visual Design

Develop layouts and visual direction around your brand and customer needs. Review key pages and interactions before moving into the build.

The outcome

An approved design direction that guides the website's appearance and behavior.

04

Development & Integration

Build the approved website, add content, and configure the forms, features, and integrations included in your project.

The outcome

A working website available for review in a development environment.

05

Testing & Final Review

Review agreed functionality, responsive layouts, forms, links, and accessibility considerations. Resolve issues and confirm the deliverables.

The outcome

A completed, tested website ready for launch, with final review handled under your agreement.

06

Launch & Next Steps

Coordinate publication, check key functions on the live website, and complete the handoff or training included in the project.

The outcome

A published website and an agreed plan for ownership, support, and future updates.

Working Together

Stay involved.
Keep decisions moving.

Website design clients receive a weekly 60-minute progress meeting to review the work, discuss questions, and resolve concerns while the project develops.

You bring knowledge of your business and customers. ThePixel brings design and technical guidance, explains recommendations, and identifies the decisions needed to move forward.

01
One coordinated set of feedback

Choose a primary contact to gather stakeholder input and help resolve conflicting requests.

02
Content and access when needed

Provide agreed copy, images, account access, and business information according to the project schedule.

03
Approval at key milestones

Review the direction before the next phase builds on it. Raise concerns early so they can be addressed.

04
Changes discussed before additional work

Requests beyond the agreed scope are reviewed for their effect on cost and timing before proceeding.

Two Separate Milestones

Website completion.
Then website launch.

Your website can be finished before your business is ready to publish it. Distinguishing these milestones keeps project expectations clear.

Completion

The agreed work is ready.

All agreed website work has been completed, tested, and is ready for launch. Final payment is due at completion under your agreement, even when publication is scheduled for a later date.

Launch

The website goes live.

Publication is coordinated around your business timing and the access and approvals needed to proceed. Launch is a separate step from completing the agreed website work.

Project-specific deliverables, review periods, payment terms, and responsibilities are set out in your signed agreement.

After Launch

A foundation for continued improvement.

Once the website is live, customer feedback and performance data can help identify the next priorities. Ongoing management, SEO, analytics, and optimization can be arranged based on your needs.

Website management is a separate service unless it is included in your hosting package or signed agreement.

Plan for what comes next

01

Confirm who handles maintenance and updates.

02

Keep account ownership and access clear.

03

Review meaningful inquiries and customer behavior.

04

Prioritize improvements as your business evolves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Know what to expect.

How long does a website project take?

The schedule depends on the number of pages, content readiness, required features, integrations, and review turnaround. We discuss timing during scoping and outline the expected schedule in your proposal.

Do I need all my content before contacting ThePixel?

No. Start with what you have. During planning, we identify what can be reused, what needs updating, and who will create and approve the remaining content.

Will I see the website before it launches?

Yes. Design reviews and development previews give you opportunities to review the work before publication. Your project includes review and approval milestones as outlined in the agreement.

What if I want to add something during the project?

Share the request so we can assess it. If it falls outside the agreed scope, we discuss any additional cost and schedule changes before completing that work.

Can this process apply to an existing website?

Yes. A focused improvement project may use a smaller version of these phases. The scope could cover selected pages, navigation, forms, or another defined part of the experience.

What happens if I am not ready to launch?

We distinguish completion from publication. When the agreed work is finished, tested, and ready for launch, final payment is due under your agreement. Publication can be coordinated separately.
