A Clear Payment Schedule

Custom website projects typically follow a 50/25/25 payment schedule. Your signed agreement will outline the project total, payment milestones, and any project-specific terms.

01 50%

Before work begins

A deposit secures your project and allows ThePixel to begin the agreed work.

02 25%

After strategy and design approval

The second payment is due after you approve the agreed strategy and design milestone.

03 25%

When your website is complete

The final payment is due when the agreed website work is completed, tested, and ready for launch.

Payment Example

Understanding Website Costs

What affects the cost of a website?

A website’s cost depends on the work needed to meet your goals. These are some of the factors we consider when preparing your project scope.

Website size and content

The number of pages, amount of content, and need to organize, write, or migrate information all influence the scope.

Strategy and user experience

Research, navigation planning, user journeys, and content structure help create a website that supports your goals.

Design and development

The level of custom design, responsive layouts, and development needed will vary from project to project.

Features and integrations

Forms, scheduling, e-commerce, interactive tools, and connections to other systems can add complexity.

Search and visibility needs

Search strategy, content improvements, and technical work can vary based on your website and market.

Existing website and timeline

An existing website’s condition, migration needs, and project deadlines can affect the work involved.

More Than a Collection of Pages

What can be included in your website project?

A successful website brings strategy, design, content, and technology together. Your proposal identifies which services are included based on your goals and project needs.

Planning Beyond Launch

Consider the ongoing costs, too.

A website may have recurring expenses after the initial project. Understanding these costs early helps you plan for the long term.

Hosting and domain

Hosting makes your website available online, while your domain is your website address. Both typically renew on an ongoing basis.

Website management

Updates, maintenance, and ongoing support help keep your website working as your business and technology change.

Third-party tools

Premium plugins, software, scheduling tools, and other services may have separate subscription or licensing fees.

Hosting, website management, and third-party services are separate unless they are included in your signed agreement. Applicable recurring costs will be discussed as part of your project.

Common Questions

Website pricing FAQs.

A few answers to help you plan your website project with confidence.

How much does a website cost?

Website costs vary based on the size of your website, the strategy and design work involved, required features, content, and other project needs. ThePixel prepares a custom proposal after learning about your goals and requirements.

Do I need to know my exact budget before contacting you?

No. If you have a budget or range in mind, sharing it can help guide the conversation and identify priorities. If you’re unsure, we can discuss your goals and the scope of work you need.

Can the project be completed in phases?

Depending on your goals and project requirements, a phased approach may be possible. We can discuss which work should come first and what could be considered later.

What happens if I need additional work?

If you request work outside the agreed scope, ThePixel will discuss the additional work and any associated cost before proceeding. Changes are handled according to your signed agreement.

Is hosting or website management included?

Hosting and website management are separate services unless included in your signed agreement. We can discuss the support your website may need after the project is complete.

When is the final website payment due?

The final payment is due when the agreed website work is completed, tested, and ready for launch. If you choose to publish later, the final payment is still due at completion, according to your signed agreement.
